Unofficial thoughts on medicine and medical school

i’m back! (for a bit)

Dear All,

Sorry I’ve been missing for a while — third year medical school was a whirlwind, and then I took a research year off where I started working on starting a non-profit and other activities.   Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and to hope writing to you soon!  I’ve been slow about getting back to your questions — I am very sorry about that.  Please e-mail me at unitedstatesmedicalstudent@gmail.com for any pressing questions.  Thank you!  Jeff

  2. Jeff,

    I love your videos! Thanks.

    Quick question:
What supplement do you take, personally, to augment your intake of omega-3’s?

    Another quick question:
I don’t like fish, and I don’t like taking fish oil (smelly belching, fear of mercury & PCBs, etc). I would like to take my omega-3’s from micro-algae. What is the best balanced ratio of DHA to EPA, and which vegetarian brand offers this? Thanks for your help!

    Live long and prosper,
    Eric P 🙂

    • Hi Eric, personally i’m taking nordic naturals. hmmm with regards to your question, good fish oil brands don’t have fishy burps. you can also try to minimize fishy burps by putting the capsules in the freezer. with regards to the best balanced ratio of DHA to EPA, i don’t think anyone knows the answer to that question. i don’t know how safe micro-algae is, so make sure to check out http://www.consumerlabs.com, which is an independent organization that tests the omega-3 fatty acid products. best wishes, jeff
